Don’t feel the world is caving in on you because you don’t have a man in your life -Zainab Tanko Yakassia, dermatologist

By ADAEZE AMOS

Zainab Tanko Yakassia, fondly known as Miss Curves amongst her friends is fun to be with. Though she is  a make-up artist  and an event manager she is also a dermatologist by profession.
The amazon from Kano state was born in America, she is the grand daughter of Alhaji Tanko Yakassai, a popular politician. “I graduated from New York University School of Medicine. (Laughs) Well, Miss Curves came about because of my body physique. I’m a very curvy lady. It wasn’t as a result of any beauty pageant. I have never done that before. Pageants and contests aren’t my thing. I was born in the United States of America. My dad is from Kano state and my mum is an American.  So I’m invariably a Kano chic. I’m an event planner and manager, a make-up artiste and a dermatologist by profession.  I hail from a well known political family in Nigeria. My grand father is Alhaji Tanko Yakassai, as people like to say one of the most influential politicians that has come out of the North,: she giggled

I love to wear figure-hugging-dresses to show off my waistline-Tobi Philips, ex-beauty queen

‘Simplicity and sophistication are my watch words in the fashion circle’

Tobi Phillips, a graduate of Marine Sciences, of the University of Lagos loves dancing and swimming. She is an avid follower of global fashion trends, an unapologetic advocate of the rights of women. In this interview with ADAEZE AMOS she talked about how happy she is to be a woman and life as an ex-beauty queen.
Excerpts:

Flawless make-up!

It is the desire of every lady to have a flawless make-up on whenever she is getting set to attend a glamorous event.
The major thing that must be in place for your make-up to give you that smooth finishing is a smooth spotless face. Ensure you are not going to use foundation and concealer to cover up lots of burns, patches and acne. If at all you are going to apply a concealer, let it be that you are desiring to have a flawless finishing.
Another area of consideration is your eyebrows. Gosh, your brows must be able to give you that look you are craving for. Once your eyebrows are in good shape , you are good to go even without lipstick. This shows how important eyebrows are in the beauty world. Check out the  Nollywood hot babe  Anita Joseph’s brows here. Splendid, right?

Dressing up gives me joy-Queen Nsofor, fashion blogger

‘My style slogan? Be who you want to be in a dress’
Queen Nsofor affectionately known as Smilicious in the Fashion world is a style aficionado. She is the founder and face of smiliciousblog14.wordpress.com, the latest fashion blog on the internet. This diva who studied International Relations unfolds her journey into the Fashion world in this interview with ADAEZE AMOS.

What do you think about the fashion industry in Nigeria?
Thankfully, we have evolved immensely. More needs to be done to make our fashion industry world standard. We need to continue to campaign to Nigerians to buy made in Nigeria items. It is a tall dream but the only way to make it achievable is to first, put a standard in place so that Nigerians will get quality products that are made in the country. We have improved but we need to do more to make our fashion international standard.

Treat your housemaids better now that you are pregnant

Some women are unbearable when they are pregnant. This is the fact! Even doctors have confirmed this, hence they blame it on change of hormones. But be that as it may, try to be nice to those living with you, especially those who serve you (clean your house and cook your meals.) Did you ask what benefit could that be, after all  you pay them for their services? Well this little story you are about to read may interest you.
Yours sincerely went to visit a friend the other day and I overheard two housemaids discussing about their madams. My friend and I eavesdropped on them and laughed. Guess what the twosome had in common? They were both housemaids from same state.
