Aspiring models should be ready to face an industry that’s pretty tough with no space for slackers- Saadat Bibire, Model and Ex-Beauty Queen

Story By ADAEZE AMOS
  • Queen Saadat has got both poise and confidence
  • She has got panache that can set fashion runway ablaze
Do you admire both billboard and runway models  and wish to be like them one day? Oh that's a good dream. But have you for once inquired or asked models what they go through to get to the peak of their career? Or do you think modeling is an easy  profession? No! Not at all.
Queen Saadat Bibire, an Ex-Beauty Queen  who has been a model for close to a decade  gives an insight of what modeling is all about in our society. "If you want to be a model in Nigeria, try and be professional about it. What this means is that you have to be trained for it. You don't have to walk into the modeling world just because you have the right attributes. Although it is important to have the right physic but you have to be properly trained. Then after being  trained, you need to be registered into a good modeling agency that would be getting jobs for you. Reason is that  freelancers do have issues getting jobs and they  are always underpaid. Secondly, no one would give you your due respect if you are a freelance model. The disrespect so many freelancers  encounter in this country is  disheartening believe me."

But did you ask if  there were no benefits for being a model in a tough society as ours? "Sure, there are  lots of benefits, no doubt," Saadat chipped in.
"You would be highly connected and well known in the modeling world. Then, you would  have numerous fans who would be aspiring to be like you. You will also be paid for doing what you consider as your hobby.  You would no doubt enjoy  memories that you created in the modeling world and that is  if you truly have passion for it.  The exposure, the composure, the poise, the razzmatazz,  and of course the elegance that accompanies modeling  are all exciting ."
The runway queen  now counsels green horn models and aspiring models  to still keep the flag flying. "Keep your dreams alive, keep your hopes high but just know it that you  should be ready for an industry that’s pretty tough and has no space for slackers. You have to be willing and ready to work all the time. It can be tasking though but you will enjoy it at last. Set your standards and don’t for any reason lower that standard. Be prayerful, be teachable and believe in your abilities."
Queen Saadat  is a Child Advocate, Content Creator, On Line Personality  and a Makeup Artist. Aside from makeup, she loves to cook, she enjoys  talking and acting. She is an ex-beauty queen. She is  the  Miss Nigeria International 2014. She has  worked for so many brands like Lady Soft, Zumah’s Couture, Buckys Touch, AWELE Hob to mention a few
