I advise that whenever we resume on movie sets or locations , we should be taking breaks every two hours to wash or sanitize our hands thoroughly- Tessy Dicson, Nollywood legendary actress
Story By ADAEZE AMOS
Delectable Tessy Dickson, remember her? Take a closer look at her face. She is one very actress who has endured in Nollywood and has indeed stirred in so many movies such as Living In Bondage, Six Months Of Madness, Turbulence, Love Is A Prank, Ode Iku, Jacob's Mansion, The Chameleon, Brotherhood, Bankole's House to mention but a few.
This movie star is of the opinion that when actors resume work on movie sets or movie locations, "we should be taking breaks every two hours to wash our hands with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitizers as the case may be. Please this is important," she said as a matter of fact.
Tessy who is abreast with happenings in Nigeria movie industry till date is of the opinion that the pandemic which has kept so many businesses and careers at a stand still has also kept Nollywood at a halt. "Well, for now, a whole lot of businesses are on hold, while some are working from home because of how highly contagious the virus is and also the need to practice social distancing in order to be safe and virus free. This simply means that everyone in the industry should exercise more patience now."
The iron lady in a make-belief-world is of the opinion that social distancing or physical distancing would bring lots of changes in Nollywood . "Although we usually relate with one another like siblings, but this is no time for that. This is no time to come closer to one another as we used to do. We should abide by the Covid-19 laws from the government so that we would be safe at the end of the day. The government has said that there would be no large gathering of more than 20 people, remember? This simply means that it is only those that are highly needed on the movie set that should be allowed to stay," she nodded.
Aside from that, "script writers too should bear social distancing on mind when writing. Let's give romance movies a break this time or better still we stick to the Indian style of showing emotions through the eyes and body language only. That way, there would be no need for kissing scenes or body contact," she said, amidst smiles.
She didn't forget to add that "everybody on location should be on mask. This should be made compulsory for our own safety."
