I will rather choose to interpret romance roles with John Dumelo or Brad Pit
Amina
Atairu, actress.
Amina
Atiru hails from Owan East Local
Government in Edo state. She was born in Maiduguri, Borno state. Hence she
speaks Hausa very fleuntly. She studied Law at the University of Benin. An
actress, a model, a TV presenter and a media consultant, Atairu started acting
professionally in 2008. She has featured in so many movies and TV series. She
also ventured into broadcasting and worked with DBN Television as their
entertainment presenter. She told ADAEZE
AMOS in this interview who she would love to be paired with to interpret romance role.
Excerpts:
What are some of the movies
you have featured in?
My
first movie was 100 days in the Jungle by Chico Ejiro, Lust for Money directed
by Charles Inojie, The Unwritten by Dip Pictures entertainment and few more.
Then for TV series they are Spider by Apreel Ventures, Disclosure in Lekki
Wives by Blessing Effiom Egbe, the smoke by Omotola Jalade, Treasures by Chico
Ejiro. I also ventured into broadcasting. Worked with DBN Televison as their
entertainment presenter then. Also in NN24 I was weather anchor (weather girl). So, for two
years, I was broadcasting and now back
fully into movies.
What is your most
challenging role?
Well,
acting itself is challenging, I mean portraying oneself as another person
itself is challenging. So, every movie has been a challenge.
What has acting taken from
you?
Acting
has given me a lot. It has not taken anything from me rather added more value
to my life. It has made me see life from different angles.
What is it about acting that
makes you happy?
A whole
lot makes me happy. When it comes to being an actor, traveling round and
meeting different people makes me happy. It makes me appreciate life and nature
because I’m quiet adventurous and outgoing.
If you weren’t acting what would you have been
doing?
If
I wasn’t acting, I would he in a court room definitely defending the innocent.
Can you take up romantic
roles?
Sure,
interpreting romance roles is part of my
career but nudity I will not do.
Who would you like to be
paired with for romance roles?
Oh
sure, that would be John Dumelo or Brad Pit.
Who are they?
John
Dumelo is the tall, dark Ghanaian actor while Brad Pit is a Hollywood
celebrity.
Are you married?
Well
for now no ring on my finger.
Relieve your childhood
experience?
I
used to have very strict dad whom I thought hated me and wonderful supportive
mom who always stand by me. And then iron protective brothers. Kai, I barely go
out. In fact, I wasn’t going out. It was from school back home. I had no
friend. My family chose my friends for me because I always get into trouble! If
I talk about my childhood, trust me your whole pages will be filled. But one
thing about my childhood I will never forget was when I won trophy for a debate competition on disabled
people given an opportunity in the country. That was in Edo state and my dad
looked at me for the first time and managed a smile on his face.
How was your first love?
There
was nothing interesting about it because I was hiding.
How about your first kiss?
(Giggles)
Oh my god this is interesting. Wow, hmm it was quiet crazy because all my
friends were clapping. It was a game called Devil’s Mail Bag at a birthday. I
will spare you the detail.
Any hope of settling down
soon or are you too busy for that?
Of
course I will settle down o! God said go into the world and multiply. So,
definitely a guy must put the ring and we will make fine, intelligent kids.
Your ideal guy?
He
has to be God-fearing and must like me a bit. He has to be very intellectual
and optimistic.
Guys that put you off?
A
guy that has inferiority complex or somebody that nags is a turn off for me.
Habit you are trying to
stop?
One
habit of mine that I’m struggling to drop is my control over my weakness.
What is your weakness?
My
heart is my weakness.
