Queen Ure Okezie visited Wellspring Rehabilitation Centre, Olowora, Lagos

‘Never make your man a thin god; else when he jilts you, you may need to be rehabilitated’

Delectable Queen Ure Okezie,  the Porpori crooner, a musical diva, CEO of Dream and Become International, whose residential apartment in Lagos got burnt barely a month ago precisely on the  5th November this year; paid a visit to Wellspring Rehabilitation Centre, Olowora, Lagos, on the 6th of December to show love. She also gave them some food items.
This daughter of Zion, ex-pastor, who used to have her own church counseled the inhabitants of the centre and encouraged them while quoting copiously from the scripture. She does charity-outing four times in a year and as usual she was accompanied by her fans.
But you wonder why she didn’t postpone the outing having lost a lot in the fire incident. In this interview with adanneamos.blospot.com she spoke extensively reaching out to women on the importance of guiding their emotions especially those who look up to their husbands/boyfriends as thin gods. “Women who make their boyfriends, lovers, husbands their gods are at risk. Reason is that when they are suddenly jilted, you see some of them getting so emotionally disturbed that they would need to be rehabilitated,” she said.
Excerpts:

Your house got burnt barely four weeks back and still have the passion to visit Wellspring Rehabilitation Centre, Olowora, in Lagos and gave them lots of food items. Why is this necessary now?
Before the fire incident, I had already set aside date for this visitation/charity outing. The fire incident occurred in 5th of November and I had already chosen 5th of December for my outing. So, that was it.
Why didn’t you postpone it?
In fact, this is even a better reason to do it. The fact that God saved me is even a cogent reason for me to come out to do charity work.

‘There is  life after rehabilitation’

You saw the inhabitants of the rehabilitation centre, can you bare your mind to them and some others in various rehabilitation centers all over the country? Do you think there is still life after rehabilitation?
Oh yes, there is in fact  greater life after rehabilitation.  I mean I would use example of Juanita Bynum, she is a popular evangelist now. And she was at the rehabilitation centre for a while and after she came out, she got into the ministry and she is reaching out. So, if Juanita can do what she is doing after rehab, it means anybody can be whatever she or he wasn’t after rehabilitation. So, to answer your question, there is surely better life after rehabilitation. It doesn’t matter if you had been there. It’s just like somebody being sick and going to the hospital. So, people who had been through one kind of rehabilitation or the other please don’t feel anyhow. When people point at you and say you were at a rehab sometime ago, your answer should be ‘and so what?’
And then other people who have never gone through such institution shouldn’t look down on anybody who had been there for one reason or the other. You know the way people look at people and say this person or that person was at a rehab centre, it doesn’t matter. Oh no, not at all. You can still start afresh and live meaningful life. There is an Igbo adage that says whenever one wakes up is her morning.
Can you leave some words of advice to young people?
Yes, my advice is that you should not let drug ruin you, do not let alcoholism ruin you. Just as what happened to some people here. This is actually a rehabilitation centre basically meant for people who were ruined by alcoholism, some were prostitutes, some were so emotionally disturbed that they snapped and had to go there for secure.
I want to say that everybody created by God has a lot to offer. You have got  dreams, you have got the things you are passionate about, don’t just let those things go. No matter the bad state you are right now, you can come out of it!
Some ladies who are in rehabs are there because of emotional traumas like heartbreak. Can you reach out to ladies with regards to this?
Yes some women are there because of emotional trauma they had due to disappointments in relationships. What I have to say about this is that there is no reason for a woman to make another human being her god which is what people have done. They have made boyfriends, lovers, husbands their gods which is the reason when something happens, you see some of them getting so emotionally disturbed that they would have to be  rehabilitated. When you know who you are, no matter the kind of disappointment you had, you would use it as a stepping stone rather than a stopping block.
